Cyber Crime Investigations

E3 Legacy Intel investigates cyber crime for businesses, attorneys, and individuals: hacking, online fraud, extortion, harassment, and data theft. As licensed investigators (FL A-1400197) with a proprietary intelligence platform, we identify who is behind the attack and build the evidence-grade proof needed for court, law enforcement, and recovery, where security tools stop at detection.

When a cyber crime has already happened, you do not need another alert. You need to know who did it and to prove it. Security software detects and defends; identifying the person behind the attack and building admissible evidence is investigative work. That is what we do.

The Cyber Crimes We Investigate

🔐

Hacking & intrusion

Unauthorized access to accounts, email, networks, and devices, and who is behind it.

💸

Online & wire fraud

Business email compromise, wire fraud, and online scams. See our BEC investigations. Victims of an online scam who are now hearing from someone offering to get the money back should first read how to avoid fake crypto recovery services.

😱

Extortion & sextortion

Online extortion, sextortion, and ransom demands, traced to the person responsible.

📡

Harassment & stalking

Cyberstalking, harassment, and doxxing campaigns, with the anonymous party identified.

💾

Data & insider theft

Stolen data, IP theft, and insider misuse, documented for civil and criminal action. When the insider is on the payroll and counsel is running the matter, we handle it as one of our corporate investigations for general counsel.

Detection Is Not Identification

Your security stack tells you an attack happened. It does not tell you who did it, and it cannot build the evidence that lets you sue them, refer them, or recover. That gap, between knowing you were hit and proving who hit you, is exactly where a licensed investigator operates. We identify the human behind the crime and document it to a standard that stands up. When the attack uses a cloned voice, a fabricated video or an AI-generated image, deepfake verification establishes what is genuine and what was made.

Preserve first, then prove

STEP 1

Preserve

We preserve the digital evidence, logs, devices, accounts, and communications, before it is lost or altered. Crypto scam victims can start before they call anyone with our crypto scam evidence checklist.

STEP 2

Forensics

Digital forensic analysis reconstructs what happened, how, and when, to an evidentiary standard.

STEP 3

Identify who is behind it

Open-source intelligence and lawful data analysis connect the activity to a real person or group.

STEP 4

Package for action

A documented report your attorney, law enforcement, or insurer can act on, with testimony available.

For Your Case, Your Attorney, and Law Enforcement

The deliverable is a named subject and admissible, chain-of-custody evidence. That is what turns a breach into a lawsuit your attorney can file, a case law enforcement will open, and a claim your insurer will pay. Many engagements are attorney-retained to keep the work protected.

Stay Protected

📡

Ongoing threat monitoring

Continuous monitoring of your people, brand, and exposure for the next attack, with rapid investigative response.

⚡

Rapid incident response

On-call investigation the moment an intrusion, fraud, or extortion attempt surfaces, before the trail goes cold.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a cyber crime investigation?
A cyber crime investigation identifies who is behind an online crime, hacking, fraud, extortion, harassment, or data theft, and builds the evidence needed to act. Security tools detect that something happened; a licensed investigator determines who did it and documents it to a standard a court, law enforcement, or your attorney can use.
Can you find out who hacked me or is attacking me?
Often, yes. We combine digital forensics, open-source intelligence, and lawful data analysis to identify the person or group behind an intrusion, a fraud, an extortion attempt, or a harassment campaign, and we preserve the evidence to a defensible standard so it holds up.
How is this different from cybersecurity or IT?
Cybersecurity and IT defend and detect. When a crime has already happened and you need to know who did it and prove it, that is investigation, not defense. We do the human-identification and evidence work that security software and IT teams are not built to perform.
Is the evidence usable in court?
Yes. We preserve data and document our methodology with a defensible chain of custody, and we can provide a declaration and testify, so the findings support litigation, a law enforcement referral, or an insurance claim.
How fast can you act?
Fast. Digital evidence is deleted and trails go cold quickly, so we move to preserve and investigate immediately, at the scale a coordinated attack or network requires.
